Is Religion A Blessing or Curse For Africans

Religion is a system of belief that was brought to Africa, and Nigeria in particular, before now, our people have their beliefs and a way of worshipping God. I am not well informed about how other Africans worship theirs Gods or how their belief system works, so, I will only talk about the Igbos.

Igbos believe that every individual has their own God() and then One almighty God, We believe that  deities have powers to punish whosoever that does wrong and Boom, Religion was brought to us, and since then, Africa lost itself, people now commit all sorts and nothing happens as a consequence.

Religion is a curse for Africans:

Religion is not even meant to save Africans but to destroy Africans. Lets start from the bible, The story  recorded in Exodus about the freedom from Egypt is there only for some reasons.

1. To make Africans hate Egypt from Childhood so that they won't have interest to research of its glory.

What Is The Meaning Of Religion

 

The word religion came from a Latin word "Religare" which simply means to bind or enslave, which seems like the idea was to put people in bondage. If we also look at the meaning of church, it means the slaves master's house.

Starting in the 15th century, when European powers initiated contact and commercial activity with Sub-Saharan Africa, and continuing throughout the following centuries, organized religion played a leading role in developing, supporting, and legislating the Transatlantic Slave Trade.

World Religion Day was first observed in 1950, but the initiative to celebrate all religions started a few years before that and since after then, things change in Africa, politics, way of life, education etc.

Now, the question is, Is Religion a good or bad thing for Africans.

How Many Religions are there in the world

According to Google, there are over 4,000 religions but majority of the world are familiar with are few and some of them are:

• Christianity:
• Buddhism
• Hinduism
• Judaism

And accordingly to them Christianity is the most popular because most people are Christians, the question I am pondering on now is, is Christianity the right religion ?

There was an issue of rape between a pastor and an ex member of his church and it's a pity that most adults don't even understand how dangerous the issue is, some are calling her an attention seeker and I'm like this lady is married to a popular musician,  she doesn't need this kind of popularity.

People react differently to rape, some choose suicide and some choose to kill their attackers.

In all, let's be compassionate about other people's pain and encourage them!

Life After Mum's Death

This June makes it 17years mum left us, exactly on the 21st, we came from the shop, and met my aunties with swollen eyes. My elder sister rushed into the room and my dad broke the news, we all cried,  I was still in secondary school,  life became meaningless,  cloudy and strange.
My mum was very rich,  helped almost everyone around her, even strangers weren't left out, our house was always filled with cousins, friends and distance relatives.

But her death revealed enemies and true friends,  her death revealed that family is not about blood but about love and loyalty. Her death scattered everyone, very few stayed back, very few reached out to us, very few cared.

But in all,  God was on our side, He was merciful,  He showed us Grace, Favour And Peace. Made us stronger.

We live a world where people judge others for sinning differently without asking for the cause...
Everyone was born innocent,  straight and beautiful but conditions makes us into something we don't wish for and we have to accept bad as normal.

I have been close with friends who are bisexual and most of them have been abused by either a man or woman,  to some,  it's a bitter experience and to others its a shameful experience,  they can't talk about,  and that's the worst,  everything stays in, they wallow in their thoughts,  put all the blame on themselves.

And when those that have been abused tries to speak up,  some ignorant people will say,  why now, why not shut up but what they don't know is that most people that are speaking up now were actually undergoing therapy and their doctors .

Lessons To Grab From Blessing's Case!

Last week an igbo (Nigeria) girl who is also a relationship Blogger known for always posting about her achievements on social media, posted a picture of house claiming that it's hers, she wrote a long epistle about her broken marriage and how she was chased out by her ex from a 2bedroom apartment and few years later,  she built hers.

Well the story drew the attention of the real owner of the house, who released a video and audio telling the world that Blessing is a liar and warned her to take down her post but she insisted that the house belongs to her until she was arrested today but here are some few things her issue taught me:

1) She posting about her "house" attracted 600 comments but the video of her been humiliated attracted 40,000 comments...  That tells you that an average stranger gets attracted by your pity story (downfalls) not your achievements.

A blogger by name Stella advised her followers to make sure they go for their pap Smears regularly and I noticed that most women have been abused by some stupid doctors all in the name of check ups.

How Emmanuel Was Killed By His Friends...

We live in a very trying and perilous times. A 17year old boy got drowned at the Dome hotel pool in abuja last weekend. He was in the company of his friends. 

The friends didn't report to the hotel management what happened nor to the deceased's (Emmanuel Balogun) parents. They went back to the school (Uni Abuja) hostel immediately after the incident.

On Monday a young girl from uni abuja called the mother of the deceased that they did not see Emmanuel her son in class. She went further to tell the parents it's like something has happened to Emma and ended the call.

The mother called back the line but it was switched off. She notified her husband & they immediately placed a call to their sons number and it was off. They drove that Monday night to their son's hostel but met his absence.

They now got information that a party was thrown for fresh year students over the weekend at the Dome hotel in town. They set forth for the hotel. The hotel management told them there was a case of drowning in their hotel over the weekend and directed them to the police.

I used to be a back to back person,  I don't spare both physically and online but something happened some time ago that changed my life.
In a sm group, someone I considered as a friend was attacked by a troll, I took over the case and fought this troll for 3weeks nonstop,  but few months later, I found out that she(troll) was really sick and was on dialysis.

Ever since then,  I wish I can take my words back, but it's too late but incident humbled me, instead of replying, I just block.
With my experience on social media, ugly, hungry and sick are always trolling other with same thing they don't have.
